locked out is just a state of mind

I’m currently standing outside my apartment. Waiting for my roommates to come back from an impromptu Wal-Mart trip. With my keys. Its been a crazy semester so far and wordpress definitely occupied the least important recesses of my mind. But here’s to a blessing in disguise.
Everything is going exactly as I would dream it too: it seems we’re too lucky these days. Living with the three loudest girls (day or night) besides myself on campus is more fun than I could ever had imagined. We bought dancedance a few days ago: there goes my school work, social life, attention span, and poor dance moves!
Not much else to report generally. I’m cooking like a fiend and Margo has named me miestro of the kitchen. Probably doesn’t get better than that compliment wise.
We saw the most epic wish of 11:11 on 11/11/11 yesterday but I slept through both of them. I feel already like the luckiest person anyway so didn’t really mind. I hope ill always be this happy, confident, loved, and loving.
Retiring my unwitty pros for dinner and some white zin. HELLO SATURDAY NIGHT!

Thank you to the Prius gods for cramming all of my stuff into my deceivingly large car (including six pairs of boots – can’t forget my newest thrift store cowboy boots!)
The Most Important Things to Do Junior Year:
1. Have the best lorise at Wesleyan (check)
2. Figure out my future career, ambitions, life goals, and plans (far from a check)
3. Go to O’Rourkes, Brewbakers, and Igaunas Ranas each at least once a week (an easy future check)
4. Make RhoEp the best sorority at Wesleyan (LOLZ)
5. ‘Cac award power couple (check, check and double check)

the elusive wavves concert

on the train home from enn why cee at the moment. i met up with three of my best friends from highschool with the plan of going to the free summerstage wavves concert at east river park. but the concert was absolutely nowhere to be found or heard – it was actually the strangest thing! after asking a few too many hipsters who also had no idea where to go (and if they didn’t we sure weren’t going) and getting catcalled by a few too many sleezy late-night park adventurers, we decided the sensible thing to do was to find a place to hunker down get some food and drinks and just consider the whole thing a hilarious mix up. so the elusive wavves concert did or did not actually happen? still unclear.
miss you biddies already: until next time.

It’s been a whirlwind since coming home from DC! I was expecting at least a little down time but NOPE. I’ve been whisked off to the hamptons with mi padre (no i’m not really actually at all complaining about this) and now its off to….Maine? Yes, yes it is. So my bags are packed, my sleeping bag stowed, and my ferry ticket confirmed. And by ferry I mean a local fisherman who might be interested in a chatty stranger accompanying him on his lobstah trap run and maybe, if I’m nice enough, he’ll drop me off at my destination: the minuscule island called Criehaven, the farthest off shore inhabited island on the East Coast. Population of one in the 2010 Census (not kidding, Wiki check it yourself). Go me.
So this should be interesting. Criehaven better be ready for the Meer/Kent/Craig family. They come loud and hungry, fully outfitted with their two children under ten and their very friendly dog. Population explosion, amirite?!
But all things considered – this is going to be quite the adventure. From the “everything overload” of working in DC to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean…..
summer in the district – capital living.

I have spent the past three months living in washington, dc. I subleased an apartment in the luxurious Skyline Towers (joking) in Glover Park with one of my best friends and have spent ten straight weeks (that’s fifty days) interning at a small for-profit called ThinkImpact which offers social entrepreneurial summer immersion programs in base of the pyramid communities in rural S. Africa and Kenya. Saving the world. No big.
Being a start-up and being an intern it was obviously unpaid so I supplemented that with a part-time at a loose leaf tea shop. Yes there is such a thing. And no, they don’t do well in the heat of the dc summer in the middle of a worldwide recession. So that went well!
Even with all of those precious summer hours sucked up at a desk or behind a cash register – it was still probably the best summer I’ve ever had. While I miss my family like crazy and am going to disappear from the social world for the rest of August (post awesome boyfriend time in SanFrancisco) to hide out in the woods or in a kayak with my cookie group of relatives, living on my own for the first time is an experience I’m never going to forget. I’m going to very begrudgingly graduate (real world, you suck) but at least it’s now fact that I won’t starve in my cockroach ridden unkept apartment if left on my own. Well at least for the first three months.
From our many “DC CHILLEN BUCKET LIST” accomplishments, to our almost fatal Craigslist free couch pick up, to our road trip to new york city, to a fourth of July weekend I will never ever forget, to the Nationals game I’ll love and hate, to the Adams Morgan bars, to the diner, to our many too many nights at Cactus, to the Gzim tea party, and to R street & 32nd…thanks dc for all the shvitzing and guffawing. YOLORISE.
It’s 11:11 somewhere

It is without a doubt the best day of summer and my lucky day! I am sitting, for the last time, at my desk a short five hours away from pure bliss and freedom. It’s my last day of an internship that was enjoyed and invaluable yet time consuming AND it’s also technically the first day of my SanFran trippppp. Boyfriend get at me. And hurry. I’m sick of this office.

Welcome to my blog! After spending ten weeks interning in D.C. and spending countless hours managing social media for my company (thank god I speak fluent Facebook, Twitter, Phanfare, and iContact now) I’ve decided to start my own blog which is exactly what you are reading at this very single moment.
I have absolutely no direction for this soon to be work of art. Hence its vague and very clichéd (I know) title. But really – this is going to be an online diary of sorts. I really can’t imagine anyone besides my mom or dad being interested in reading this. We’ll see where it ends up – knowing me there are going to be quite a few posts about food so be ready for that. I’m a foodie through and through. Thank you organic granola munchy-crunchy mama and dad for that!
P.S. That’s hello in english, hungarian, spanish, russian, french, and tagalog in case you were curious. Yes I picked tagalog.
